Brothers, Roto Visage and Jugular Notch come together in a collaboration amounting to five atmospheric tracks of epic length to accompany one’s inner dialog. As an incredibly personal endeavor for both artists, “Everything Is Brown” captures and documents moments in time and every area of the psyche, from birth and childhood to death.

“Everything is Brown” spawns from the entanglement of many sources, including field recordings in unsettling environments, home-made analog synthesizers, virtual synthesizers, vocal sampling, unconventional experimentation with vinyl records, improvisation, and an overall mental regurgitation of sound and emotion.

Harsh mind numbing noise juxtaposed with eerie atmospheric drones. Roto Visage proves once again that the nightmares of the listener are very real, this time by bringing forth the personal misery and pain in which the Bush administration has brought on to the planet. Samples of propaganda and despair scream from the frontlines. Abrasive and yet ghostly soothing Gehirnwaschebund will stay with the listener long after the album is over.

Breath from a being made of mud.

This highly abstract release from Kikapu newcomer, Roto Visage, is mostly minimal, yet in some instances dense, containing layer upon layer of bleak, disturbing and desolate soundscapes. His debut album, “der golem,” can be closely aligned with dark ambient yet moves away from the genre with its organic, meditative explorations. The inherent isolation within the tracks is at times uncomfortable, a forced introspection, but quickly sinks into a dark solitude, as though anything beyond melancholy would be unnatural. This schizophrenic release will surely leave you wanting more, and thanks to Roto Visage’s prolific nature, you can expect to hear from him again soon.
